2007: British Library's Hidden Treasures Brought to Life competition 2007

Peter Lock, Archdeacon of Rochester, Margaret Hodge, Minister for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, and April Lambourne, Archives and Local Studies Officer at MALSC

Medway Archives and Local Studies Officer April Lambourne entered what must be the Medway Archives most treasured possession, the Textus Roffensis, into the British Library's competition.

The Textus Roffensis belongs to the Dean and Chapter of Rochester Cathedral and is part of the archive collection of documents deposited by the Dean and Chapter at the Medway Archives.

On Tuesday 4th September 2007, April and Archdeacon Peter Lock attended the awards ceremony at the British Library, where it was announced they had won.

A trophy and certificate were awarded, but the main prize for this competion was the reproduction of the book on the British Library's Online Gallery of turning pages http://www.british-library.uk/onlinegallery/ttp/ttpbooks.html

For information on the Textus Roffensis see http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/

What a wonderful result. Congratulations!
